More bugfixes, status of packages and ebuilds.
Hey everyone, it’s been a while since I last updated, but don’t take that to mean no progress has been made. I effected some more name and icon changes, and some bugs have been fixed. Most notably, the configuration directory for Icepodder is now .icepodder rather than iPodderData. Anyone who’s running the latest from Subversion should update and make sure it works for them. Just do a “cp -r ~/iPodderData/* ~/.icepodder/” to transfer all your settings. I tested it briefly with a fresh feed list, as well as copying the contents of the old iPodderData to it, and it seemed to work fine, but contact me immediately if it doesn’t.
Here’s what I need from you guys:
- Help working on bugs or code cleanups
- People with simple scripting experience to automate some of the common tasks with packaging
- Someone to help maintain the Gentoo ebuild
If you’re not too familiar with Python, don’t worry, a lot of the bugs and cleanups are bite-sized and a great place to start. If any of you are acquainted with creating ebuilds or debian packages, your assistance would also be appreciated. A lot of people expressed interest in helping out, but so far only a handful have volunteered for anything specific. If you have some time to spend working to make Icepodder better for everyone, please contact me at admin@icepodder.com. This is very much a project where we’re all learning, so don’t hesitate because you don’t think you have the skills or experience; I know I can find something for you to help with. Thanks!
edit: changed contact email
Awesome work! Nice to get iPodderData invisible. Features and artwork also noted.
Thanks for the post on the help needed. May possibly help out in the future, but too busy at the moment.
thewtex - August 28th, 2007 at 8:22 ammight be because I copied over the ipodderdata directory – but just pulled down the latest from svn, and still get this error in the logs which was present in the previous version I built from your tarball- seems associated with the cleanup;
Starting auto cleanup.

RussH – Thanks for letting me know about the problem. Does this just show up in the log, or does it crash the program and affect usability? Please let me know ASAP so I can get a fix out if necessary.
Thewtex – Thanks, and let me know when you’re free.
Spankminister - August 28th, 2007 at 6:24 pmHiya, this is simply showing up in the logs. It seems to prevent the autocleanup routine from running – but I can manually delete old podcasts myself. If there’s anything I can test let me know!
btw – this is using the distro SLED 10
RussH - August 29th, 2007 at 4:18 amI download 4 episodes of one podcast.
All 4 episodes are visible under the downloads tab.
When I select the download destination location only one episode is there.
It is always the last episode downloaded.
I am stumped. I have been using ipodder on my Windows PC for years, so I would like to use this program instead of hpodder.
I drag my downloads to a Sandisk mp3 player via usb port. (no iPod)
How do I save more than 1 episode to the download folder?
Thanks

I like to have the ability to download tv series online from past years, but I am trying to find a site that has access to this stuff for free without filling out surveys.
